Week of the Young Child

RULER is joining the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to celebrate the Week of the Young Child™ April 8-12! The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the  early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

“Research shows that high-quality pre-K can pay of. Now let’s deliver. Preschool programs have the potential to help equalize what children have the chance to learn, preparing all children for success in the classroom and beyond and having a particularly powerful impact on children from low-income households.”

National Institute for Early Education Research newsletter, Feb. 1, 2019, vol. 18, issue 5

This year, we are RULERizing your week with our own celebration guide! Educators and families will enjoy each day’s theme with a book and activity geared towards an “emotions matter mindset”. Our reading list includes:

  • Tasty Tuesday: Pizza at Sally’s By Monica Wellington
  • Working Together Wednesday: A Chair for my Mother By Vera B. Williams
  • Artsy Thursday: The Dot By Peter H. Reynolds
